Western South Africa
Destination Description
Many tours of South Africa concentrate on the Cape and its endemics with extensions into the 'Karoo' a vast dry area with its own superb avifauna. South Africa is such a large country of so many contrasts that it is virtually impossible to cover all the ground needed to see all its endemics in a couple of weeks. Indeed there are many 'Southern African endemics' which can be found in South Africa and more easily seen here than some of the other states in the southern part of the continent. Keen birders will either need a longer trip, or will need a second 'clean up' visit to the rest of the country to net all the birds they want to see.
