How to use this site….

Welcome to Birders Travel – the brand new comparison sites for birding tours!

We assume you are on this site because you are considering taking a birding holiday and are trying to decide where and when to go and who is the best tour operator to suit your needs – and you’ve certainly come to the right place to help you make up your mind and even go right ahead and book that trip on the spot!

If you are still making up your mind where to go, and want to know more about the birds and birding in any of hundreds of world locations then follow the links on all the destination pages to visit the appropriate page on our sister sitewww.fatbirder.com

Right – now lets get down to business!

You can browse the tours, tour operators and destinations etc. but, if you want to save and compare a number of tours you need to register… don’t worry we will never give your details to anyone else!

There are TWO ways to find your ideal trip – we recommend using both!

1. Navigate the Maps

You can use the maps to find a destination you are interested in visiting and see what tours are available from a selection of tour operators.

Simpliy click the area of the maps to get to the appropriate page…

…for example, lets suppose you are thinking of taking a birding trip to Goa. First click ‘Asia’ on the world map, then, when the Asia map appears click on ‘India’… the India map will appear and you will see ‘Goa’ on the map and you can click it to navigate your way to a page with links to all the tour operators who have posted their itineraries on this site. Click on the individual entries to see their itineraries. All itineraries are to a set formula so you can compare the day-by-day tour, duration, timing, accommodation, price and target species on a like for like basis. When you see a trip you like you can select it for later comparison with others.

2. Use the Search Engine

Fill in the on-line form on the home page…

First you select the destination that you are interested in, from an alphabetical drop-down list.

Next select a range of dates from the drop down calendars.

Add in the number of days you want on tour [this will usually be 7, 10 or 14 days but some tours last longer or have extensions]

Now for the exciting bit… add in up to five target ‘must see’ species.

You then need to select your preferred ‘fitness level’ for the trip – each category is explained as trips will range from little or no walking, to treks in difficult terrain – its up to you. At the end of the list you will also be able to select the ‘wheelchair friendly’ option if you have a major mobility problem as some of our operators can arrange birding trips for groups of individuals with specific needs.

Lastly, you can pick from the accommodation types used by tours. The majority of tours use standard class hotels but there are some camping trips or tours where part of the itinerary can only be made using canvas for a night or two.

Now for the best bit… click on ‘Find’ and this will generate a list of all the trips that satisfy your criteria.

The site is all automatic but there are plenty of chances to mail us if you find a technical hitch… otherwise the itineraries will allow you to go straight to the tour company and ask them about their tours.

When you register it will mean you can save your searches rather than having to start from scratch next time you visit and we can keep you informed of bargains… keep your eyes on the news feeds too as we will be posting last minute places and other offers.

And, as they say, don’t be a stranger… new tour companies are putting their itineraries on line all the time and the choices are ever expanding.

Everyone here at Birders Travel is determined to make this site the one-stop-shop for birding tours any time and every where in the world!
